Interested in doing a SGA rewatch? You're in luck!

Every Wednesday, a new post will go up right here on [community profile] sga_squee. Fans will have one week to watch the episode and leave a comment on the post. Comments can be meta, ship related squeeing, gifs, comment fic, or anything someone wishes to put out there. We do ask that there be no bashing - about characters, about ships, etc. - lets keep this a positive experience!

If you're unable to watch the episode in the week set for it, feel free to watch (and comment) later! No post will be too old for new comments :)

We're starting from the beginning, folks. Rising, episodes 01 & 02. Lets remember why we love this show so much and share it with our fellow fans!

The first time I saw a Stargate hanging space it took my breath away. I kid you not. It is still one of the most riveting sights that exists in science fiction. Besides, it's just dang beautiful.

Dear Diary,

Today, I stepped through a puddle thingy to another galaxy into an underwater city with no power. Oh, did I mention the city talks to me -- in my head?

Went back through the puddle to another planet, met some really nice people, nearly got killed with those really nice people by a bunch of not so nice people who eat us. (So not cool.)

Lost my CO, some of our guys, and some of the nice people we just met. Went back to the city, got chewed out by my boss -- hey, I couldn't just leave those folks there! -- just in time for the wildest ride of my life. I guess the city didn't want to be on the ocean floor anymore. I didn't have anything to do with it, honest! Yeah, the whole "Don't let us drown" thing was there but I don't think that was a factor. Really.

Argued with Weir -- again -- flirted with that cranky Canadian scientist (never used math as foreplay before), and he gave me a spaceship! Totally cool. (Gateship? WTF?)

Took a team of marines to find Sumner, our guys, and the nice people. Found Sumner, our guys, and the nice people. Also found the not so nice people. Ugly fuckers, especially that bug woman with the teeth and that thing in her hand.

Rescued our guys and the nice people (Athosians), killed the bug woman (Wraith), woke up the rest of them. (Good going, John! They eat us, remember!)

Killed Sumner.

Now, I'm acting CO and Weir's offering me champagne.

No, not freaking out at all.

I sometimes wonder if this was the defining moment for Teyla in regards to the Tau'ri. She'd warned them: if their world had never known the Wraith, they should return there and never come back.

Yet, here was Sumner, facing down a Wraith with a straight back and no obvious fear. (He was a colonel in the US Marine Corps but that meant nothing to Teyla.) Foolish, foolhardy, ignorant, brave. He and his men didn't run when the Wraith came; they fought back.

Sumner stared down a Wraith and refused to be dragged away. He walked, tall and calm, to his fate.

I have to wonder what impact Sumner's actions had on Teyla, on her decision to throw her lot in with the expedition. Yes, Sheppard and his men coming to the rescue, defeating the Wraith on their home ground, had to have been huge for the Athosians, for Teyla, who had never known anyone to come back from being culled.

But this moment, this man with his courage, his dignity, and his resolve, had to have made a lasting impression.

Take a look at their faces and see what you think. )

I wasn't going to post this cap because it's so iconic but what the hell. I'm gonna sail this 'ship to the far horizon! *grin*

Because there's no way to capture this in a single screencap, hold your breath and hang on for the ride of a lifetime!

Think about it: these people are unique. They rode the city to the surface; they'll never forget and they can never explain it. No matter how many others come to Atlantis, no one else will ever know how it felt when she rose.

Sheppard: They followed me home! Can I keep 'em? Huh? Huh? Can I keep 'em?

Weir: Don't let this happen again!

Sheppard: Never again! Promise!

Famous. Last. Words.
