Civilian Contractor.

Look at Dave's face

Now, you tell me what he's really thinking...because, civilian contractor?... not so much.

And then there's Ronon's reaction.

Between you and me, I'd like to see that scene where Ronon takes Dave out to a bar, gets him good and drunk and then sets him straight on a few things Satedan style.

Ronon-on Earth-in a suit & Woobie John *clutches heart*

And Dave insinuating their father believed John was gay. The writers really had us thinking gay the whole way through the episode, didn't they?

When TPTB hinted at outing someone as gay, I was confused as I thought they had already done so with John in this episode...but they meant LORNE!

Lorne can be gay too! But you know that means they'll have to kill him off...

(Let's hope really hard the movie doesn't get made.)

You're forgetting who wrote the script for the movie. Yes, the lovely Joe Mallozzi. There will be no Roman bathhouses but there may very well be boiling in oil -- at least for John Sheppard.

Maybe Joe Mallozzi will be replaced (or be unavailable) and they are forced to go out and get a REAL writer rather than that hack...and it's someone who's not afraid of teh gay!

Oh well, I can dream, can't I?

I'm more interested in someone who isn't afraid of writing heroes, male, female, straight, or gay, and in all the colors of humanity.

True! It would be great to see better use of Ronon and Teyla than simply as Conan and Xena. I'm sure there is more to Ronon than an 'uncouth warrior'. And they had already hinted at Teyla's diplomatic/leadership skills but never gave her a chance to really showcase it.

Elizabeth was poorly written in the series too, which is why I ended up disliking her character...same as Keller. Both were supposed to be professionals and the best in their respective fields and yet they were written as bordering on incompetent! It was really frustrating.

It's as if they walked through the wormhole and lost all the smarts it took to get them there. Bad writers! Bad!

Well, now they're our characters to do with as we please. Isn't it grand? *grin*

In the same vein, John is probably the worst and weirdest military commander in two galaxies if you just go by the scripts. But he got more screentime so Flanigan had more opportunities to characterize John beyond what was on the page.

And people like to say Flanigan's a bad actor. He did so much with so little. Even his background acting is fantastic. All those wonderful faces and reactions really made for some great scenes.

Wait, what? I never follow writer/producer blogs--they're too depressing. Serious? When/what was that?

Joe Mallozzi was making noise a while back -- around the time the show finished its run -- about the characters of Atlantis, saying one of them was gay. A couple months ago, he hinted that it was Lorne. (He also hinted that John was getting back with Nancy, whom he forgot was John's married ex-wife. Guy has no clue about continuity.)

Sometimes, I read his blog just for the dumb. It's really amazing.

In his head? In the novels? Is the not-a-movie (not) going to be an epic gay romance? Is he writing fanfic now?

Hell if I know. It was some rambling "What have they been doing since Atlantis has been on Earth?" kind of thing. He mentioned having to rewrite part of the (not) movie to make McKay's appearance on SGU (ick) work. He also suggested that Keller dies of the Hoffan virus just like she did in "The Last Man." Maybe he's finally over his fanboy crush on her. Who knows with him.
