em_kellesvig: John Sheppard looking mischievous with caption "Mischief Managed" (SGAJSWary)
[personal profile] em_kellesvig posting in [community profile] sga_squee
To this day, this episode baffles me. (Pod people are pod people. Except for Grodin -- maybe.) Even the *coff*Great*coff* Mallozzi admitted the characters were completely out of character and the script wandered around for forty-three minutes in search of a plot.

With that in mind (see baffled John face below), I'm just gonna concentrate on the pretty. And there's lots of it. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves.

Oh, crap!

Arm porn!

Teyla got the best lighting.

WTF?

Serious Ford is serious.

Best. Lighting.

Team!

I must be in a minority, but I like this episode. It had lots of yummy looking Sheppard in it. :)

I actually like jealous Rodney - he is just so upset about it all. lol Of course, John must be under a bit of a 'ascended' spell or something. I do agree he is not himself, but it's so nice to see how charming he can be. ;)

I can't look at pictures of this episode without thinking of the songvid "Jolene". *giggles*

And thinking that in SGA-fandom nothing is impossible, I'm sure there's a story floating somewhere out there that has Elizabeth encouraging John after having learned that the woman was actually an Ancient and practically pimping him out to her in the hope Atlantis will get something out of it.

That... would actually make this episode make sense.

I also liked this episode, because of good-looking Sheppard and unbelieving (and jelous, yes) McKay, too. I just felt sorry, that this was totally a stand-alone episode and nobody ever heard anything about the Ancient priestess and his people in Atlantis. This was a wasted opportunity anyway.

Not a fan of this episode either, to be honest. Shipping tendencies aside, everyone (but especially Sheppard) came off as wildly OOC. (Absolutely everybody was fine with a clearly smitten Sheppard giving an unknown alien a tour of Atlantis?) The only one who seemed kind of in character was Rodney, whom I could see reacting to the way he did to the topic of religion, as well as beings suspicious of Chaya. But even his suspicion was sort of wildly exaggerated, and he just came off as weirdly intense (and jealous).

One of the few things I remember actively liking about this episode, actually, was Rodney's early negative reaction to Chaya because she's refusing to help people in need (and using religion as an excuse to do so). It's an interesting angle on a guy who's usually seen as selfish; sure, he is selfish, but he also has The Greater Good firmly in mind and doesn't respect those who don't.

That's a fantastic point, actually. One I've never really put together, but *yes*. We've already seen that Rodney's willing to go far to save others - Hide and Seek, for example. And here's this woman that can help by doing nothing more than accepting people onto her world, and she's refusing to do so.

Anyone who knows me knows my absolute loathing of this episode, but Sheppard does look damn good in it. And he smiles! I can't completely deny it.

Also, one thing that always made me a little O.o was the fact that John's wearing a zipped up jacket while everyone else is in either a t-shirt or no sleeves on a really hot-looking tropical planet.
