I love John's expression here, he's pissed-off and any enemy soldiers he meets are not going to survive the encounter.

The story of The Storm & The Eye is my absolute favourite. To me they are one episode that showcases everything that John is - not forgetting how brave Rodney can be. The storyline makes it quite plain (IMHO) that John is not just a pilot. This is obvious from the quick way he chooses what he needs to take with him, in the way of munitions etc. there's no dithering at all.

And of all things, it's the hair that gets me every time. No matter what happens, the hair still sticks up. Oh, John!

Yes! More than that: Rodney showing he cares enough to be brave and John completely abandoning his laid back persona to go all badass for his friends and his home.

Yesss. Rodney is the very personification of brave little toaster here - I am always impressed when he steps in front of the gun, no matter how many times I watch. I love that Atlantis - and the people on there - have brought out this side of Rodney that shows he really cares.

And I have a not so secret fondness for bamf!John - I find him distractingly hot XD I wish we had gotten to see more of it. He does some pretty awesome stuff through the season, but I think this episode really showed how badass he is. And how much he cares behind his laconic persona :P

Given that in S1 we had mostly seen the laid back, "devil may care" side of John this episodes really showed the contrast in his character.

I can perfectly understand those stories that have the marines secretly dismissing him, not taking him seriously in the beginning and then being totally baffled by what he's capable of here.

Yeah, he was a rotor pilot. How were they supposed to take him seriously when they had no access to his records?

Now they know. Sheppard's a nice guy -- right up until he isn't.
