8) The Last Man

Lordy, there is just so much here. First, the idea of John coming through the Gate to a deserted Atlantis 10 K years in the future. John's worst nightmare again; outliving everyone he cares about. I think it's his worst nightmare because John doesn't *expect* to live to see old age. He'd realistic about his career and the life he's chosen to live. The thought of everyone else being dead and gone while he still lives is terrifying to John because while he is a loner, as long as the people he cares about are still there, he isn't alone. A very big distinction.

Then we have Rodney determining that the point in time he needs to go back and change is the point at which they lose John. Really? Not when they lose Elizabeth or Carson? No, John. Somehow he decides that everything that went wrong with the expedition would have turned out differently if John had been there. I'm not arguing with Rodney, mind you, but what an assumption to make! He proceeds to *give up the remainder of his life* to the problem of trying to get John home again. Knowing that by doing so, he will change his entire history--including possibly any relationship he might have with Jennifer. Damn, that's a powerful lot of confidence to have in one person. Flip side? John follows holographic Rodney's instructions. He gets into stasis, not knowing what it will do to him or whether Rodney's plan will work or not. How can you not love that?

9) The Shrine
Probably makes everyone's list. Makes mine but also makes me wonder why we weren't getting episodes like this all along. Yes, there are some moments of fail here (Why didn't Jennifer take herself off Rodney's case when she realized her emotions were in conflict? Why did everyone ignore the *natives* of Pegasus in their recommendations for treatment for so long?) but what shines (hah, pun!) in this episode for me is that no matter how confused Rodney got, it was *John* he wanted. It was John he turned to in the middle of the night. The scene with them on the pier? Brilliant. Rodney is losing his grip on himself, but he still knows John and what the nature of his relationship with John is. The beer-spitting is priceless.

As it the power tools comment. And how Rodney is pissed when he regains his senses and is not happy about the 'farewell to Rodney' party the Team has in mind. Once again, John delivers out of the box thinking. Love, love, love.

10. Vegas
OMG. Vegas. They did such a beautiful job of imitating a CSI type drama. The mood, the lighting, the music. Again, why the heck are we just seeing this kind of stuff now? My heart ached for this John Sheppard. I found this Rodney intriguing and sexy as hell. I wanted more of this story and this universe in a way I can't even begin to describe--down to wanting to create my own com to wallow in the Vegas universe. THIS is the dark, gritty drama they should have spun off into another series. THIS is where SGA should have ended, since they were determined to end it now. This universe, this episode: it opened up so many possibilities, so many directions in which a new show could go. I. WANT.

In addition to the wonderful episodes you've listed I have a fwe more which I watch over and over. Hide and Seek, McKay and Mr. Miller, Letters from Pegasus and Duet. This definitely needs to be a top 20...LOL

Love the comm!! :-)

See, all those made my original list and then I crossed them off to make room for the ones I did list.

Hide and Seek--just for the balcony scene and Rodney sing-songing "Invulnerable" and John's proud "I shot him."

McKay and Mrs. Miller for Rodney's jealousy of *himself* and his relationship with his sister and the fact that John has his 'last letter' ON HIS LAPTOP.

Letters From Pegasus--where everyone writes home, except for John.

Duet--because it was simply an awesome showcasing of David Hewlett's acting abilities.

*happy sigh*

and the fact that John has his 'last letter' ON HIS LAPTOP.

I want to sit down and watch the whole series from start to finish again.

After I rewatch Vegas 20 times. (I keep saying I'm going to do that, but I never get around to it. But I've been 'writing' a scene in my head all morning where the Vegas R&J meet the McShep 56 R&J and now I want to go play in that universe for a while...)
