Date: 2011-08-13 02:10 am (UTC)Love Carson and Ford's back and forth - 'You can't be too careful.' 'Yes, you can; you can be way to careful.' Hee.
Okay, Carson should have heard of eyes of storms before now; we see enough hurricanes on Earth, after all.
Oooo, Rodney is stalling for time, and John just took out three more. Ha! Take that Kolya.
Yikes! a whole company. Not good. I love John wondering what McKay would do, though. That was a great moment. And then the expression on John's face when he got to where he was going. Oh, no power. Yes!!

Date: 2011-08-13 02:12 am (UTC)John being totally bad-ass.
Ford saying of Sheppard, "He'll be the dot getting rid of the other dots."

Date: 2011-08-13 02:28 am (UTC)Also, Rodney still being so brave, and Elizabeth jumping in to hold Kolya off of him as best she can when he's like a foot taller and 70 pounds heavier. I do feel bad for these three as actors, having to be out in all that water and wind. They must have been so cold and wet. They'd be lucky to get out of the episode without pneumonia.
Man, that life-form reader is so handy. I do like Sora better in this episode, so far. Her character was a bit of a roller coaster in the first half of the episode. I liked her trying to talk sense to Kolya based on John's motivations. Oops, I spoke to soon. She's just seen Teyla, and I sure all common sense and rationality will now go out the window.

Date: 2011-08-13 02:33 am (UTC)So, Rodney may have saved Elizabeth from a bullet but, then again, she might drown with the rest of them. Whee ... or mostly not.
Wet John looks good, adds to the whole resolve-face and body language. See John run as the music and the waves build in intensity.
And cue ... credits? That sure didn't feel like three whole minutes.
Whoa, it's already looking miserable outdoors.
Aha, so Ladon Radim thinks he's SO smart.
And back to the even more soggy mainland. I'm actually surprised to see how masterfully Carson fooled around with the jumper's controls, considering how squeamish he was about using the chair in Antarctica. Hmmm, so some things (I guess like Ancient medical tech) aren't too overwhelming for him. I'd forgotten that (and that's another reason for loving the rewatch idea).
Okay, other stuff happening.
And, then, it's time for David Hewlett to demand combat ... er ... WET pay. It was a smart trick for Rodney to get Elizabeth to help him. Well, after all, he usually has John as his sidekick. So, she's a diplomat. Maybe she's also got a scientific bent. ::giggles::
Oooh. I liked the seque from John setting off the smoke bombs (uh, are those tear gas cannisters?) to the 'jumper on the mainland.
Yay for Aiden overriding Carson to say they'll fly UP ::giggles:: 'cuz of course it's a spaceship. Duh. I found it odd that Teyla didn't know the concept of the eye of the storm, but then slapped my hand, remembering the constant delays in technological development of her people and others in Pegasus.
Yay for another Trek reference: "I'm a medical doctor, not a magician!" That one IS priceless.
Yay for Teyla's philosophy: "If we can help, we must."
And Carson has a moment. An "oh crap" moment.

Date: 2011-08-13 02:39 am (UTC)Wow, wow, wow!
Now that's something I completely missed the first time. And, even in the smoke, it's hard to see how he's suspended from those struts. But SO cool. Um ... so does that mean that John is really the Batman??? Rodney's going to be SO upset and envious.
Ladon's voice sounds so impotent and ineffectual with the "Report" and then we see the life signs wink out, one by one - well, all but the most important one. Terrific imagery.
Uh-oh. Wet Rodney and wet Elizabeth talking about stalling. Yeah, Liz, "jiving" is such a scientific term.
Ooooh, overconfident Kolya. Wait till it bites him in the ass. Aside: Robert Davi must have been a smart cookie to insist that he wear a hat during filming. At least it kept SOME of the water off his face.
Okay, "what would McKay do?" I love the instant flash of intelligence in John's eyes. The Flan DOES know how to portray smart.
Oops. Seems as if piloting the 'jumper isn't as much fun for Carson. And John's just found the really, really dangerous stuff box. Yay!
Hey, who didn't pay the electricity bill?
Awww, they can't track John any longer.
Ha, Kolya: "Take Sheppard with overwhelming force." Yeah, you can try.
Yay, 'jumper peeps are back safely. And Aiden says Carson has to take military orders. Woo-hoo.
Oh, man. That was so amazing when John got the shield back up. Um ... full complement of Genii? I don't think so.
Oh, look at plucky Rodney: "You still need me if you want this city."
And the storm continues to build.

Date: 2011-08-13 02:44 am (UTC)Meanwhile, Teyla is opening a can of Woop-ass on Sora.
And, Rodney still railing away about his plans.
Woo hoo, John somersaulting in. 'I'm not aiming at her.' Shiver me timbers, what a tone of voice. Yet another candidate for favorite lines.
Tension waiting for the shield to come on line. Biting my nails here. Yay!!! They did it!!
Heh, I love the bandage over Rodney's clothing.
I think this is one of my favorite episodes. Certainly it's my favorite so far, but I think it ranks in my personal top ten, as well. There is so much drama, with and excellent BAMF!Sheppard, although I think that Rodney was pretty kick-ass, too, as was the rest of the Atlantians. Dialogue was sharp, too, and I found myself laughing in a few spots.

Date: 2011-08-13 03:29 am (UTC)I loved the dialogue, too, and and found the ensemble acting terrific. They used a larger number of actors in one episode and spread out the dialogue and action pretty evenly.

Date: 2011-08-13 02:44 am (UTC)So, is Kolya looking like a trapped wet rat yet?
Blah-blah-blah. Actors act.
"Dr. Weir dies."
"Again, you mean."
Oh, boy. John's on the Atlantis staircase running exercise program.
Very sensitive, moving music as the 'jumper trio are trying to fix things.
::giggles:: "Turn around." They really should have believed John. Their loss. Also, yay. Help has arrived.
Uh-oh. Sora finds our intrepid wanderers.
And, then, out at the grounding station, Rodney enables the whatchamacallits. And there's that intriguing duwee-duwee-duwee (I'm having trouble reproducing) sound.

Date: 2011-08-13 03:21 am (UTC)I'm not sure if this is future canon, but I believe the soldier who didn't make it was the son of a close friend or relative of Kolya's.
::giggles::
Special sounds are my specialty!

Date: 2011-08-13 02:50 am (UTC)Nice having John say the same thing ("Rodney McKay plan") about not being in the hallways would be a Very. Smart. Thing.
Oh, Sora. Back to vengeance instead of obeying your commander's order.
John's directives. And then, "take the rest of the day off." Oh, sure. Piece of cake!
Dumb, dumb, dumb. Aiden leaving the Wraith stunner lying there.
Okay, fight time between Sora and Teyla.
And, oh, poor (arrogant) Rodney who keeps saying "Now" but nothing happens. And gets a punch in the face.
Mmmm. I love listening to Elizabeth's logical arguments.
And look at those rolling waves. I'm wondering what kind of SFX they used to create such rounded swells.
Interesting to see that Teyla has the upper hand on her younger (less experienced) opponent.
And then the last-minute rescue of Rodney and Elizabeth. Real nice shooting, John.
And Rodney's dilemna: "We either lose them or we lose the city." At least Sora was smart for once to return to the control tower.
Oooooh. Pretty lightning. Indoors.
Whoa, tsunami barely averted.
But poor Rodney vs Elizabeth. "Did you ever doubt me?" "Yes, several times." "Oh."
Oh, John. You're looking so unsympathetic when Rodney points out he had to bandage his own arm.
::giggles:: Sure, John. Book your vacay 20 years in advance.
And there they are: the trio that runs Atlantis as the music returns to a gentle and mellow variation of the theme, now that they have repelled the storm.
This episode had SO much action, I couldn't believe how packed each minute was. Really terrific.
