EEEEEE! There's squee afoot!

I was just over at [personal profile] lavvyan's, where she's hosting the SGA Love Shack Meme, and I placed the link to the first fic I ever read in the SGA fandom.

It was Good for What Ails You by [personal profile] giddygeek, and it was so funny, and hot, and had the whole team, and the voices were perfect (but I didn't know that at the time, as I had yet to see the first episode), and you will love it.

Go. Read it! It's short. It's wonderful. You need a grin today, right??

So, I was wondering - do you remember the story that popped your SGA fandom cherry?

Care to share it with us?!?!?!!

I don't know wich one was the first, but the first that stayed with me is "Ache" by esteefee. I LOVE it. Still have it in my memories :-) And since I can't make the pretty links, we'll go with an oldfashioned one:

go check it out!

I honestly don't remember but I do remember early on reading a long fic about the team being on Daedalus and the ship crashes on a icy, snowy planet. It was really good and that was the story that got me hooked. I'll have to go into my saved stories and see if I can find it. There is some awesome fanfic out there...spurred me to try my hand at it.

I wish I could remember the very first story I read...darn.

I don't believe it was the first story I read, but the first one to make an impression on me is boilerbmw's Finding Rodney (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=77&warning=12). *nostalgic sigh*

[livejournal.com profile] issaro's reading of [livejournal.com profile] astolat's Time in a Bottle. I didn't know much about the show at the time - just a few scattered episodes across the first four seasons - but they told a really enjoyable story that I wanted to listen to over and over.

I can't remember my first SGA story, but I can remember my first slash one. I remember it because the friend who sent it to me only sent me a portion of it, cutting it off before it got to the slashy bits.

Baby Bedlam by the Huntress (http://www.area52hkh.net/ash/huntress/bbedlam.php).

When I questioned why she'd only C&P'd me part of a story, she was very coy and finally said what it was about and that she didn't think I could 'handle it.' I asked for the link, read the story and a McShepper was born. :-)

I think I voraciously consumed virtually every McShep story on wraithbait. Alphabetically.

I watched the show from the beginning but as for the fanfiction, I followed [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse over from the Sentinel fandom. I'd read a half dozen stories, all of them excellent, all of them leaving me looking for more.

Then I hit A Beautiful Lifetime Event (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/lifetime_event.html). From that moment on my fate was sealed.

Oh yeah, A Beautiful Lifetime Event was one I found not long after I first started reading SGA fic. It was the FIRST kid!fic I ever actually enjoyed! It was the start of SGA fandom slowly and surely breaking down every bias I previously had about fanfic. ("What do you mean, wing!fic? How stupid is that?" ...yeah, not so much anymore!)

Easy! MVP (http://trickster.org/speranza/cesper/MVP.html) by Speranza. I was in due South for a while and so loved her work. I was just bored one day and decided to try out her other fic on a whim, and after reading the story summaries chose MVP. I can't say what it was, specifically, about that story that made me suddenly want to read everything I possibly could about the characters, but it had that impact. I adored Rodney and found John interesting and wanted to know more about them.
