Yay!  Time to start.

Synopsis of the Pilot:  When SG-1 discovers what it believes to be the remnants of the Lost City of the Ancients, the originators of the Stargates, Stargate Command launches an investigation. A new team of explorers, headed by civilian Dr. Elizabeth Weir, travels to the distant Pegasus Galaxy, where it discovers an advanced but deserted city on the ocean floor, a group of nomadic humans and a deadly enemy that feeds on humans as an energy source.

Well, I've also studied many languages (tho' certainly not as many as Daniel). [Okay, so I know there's Klingon books out there; are there any in Ancient? 'Cuz trying to adapt from Latin is quirky.] I believe I was also trying hard to see how many different countries' patches I could glimpse.

As for the show love, it's true that the language had a huge impact. Not only the individual nuances like the snark, etc., but also the fact that there are so many individualistic speech mannerisms (helped mightily by having an international crew which was one of the most intelligent decisions made by TPTB, so that it wasn't just a whole bunch of mostly-Canadian actors playing Americans).

As for noticing even the tiniest thing, I loved seeing Peter Grodin's energetic running about. And his precise way of speaking. And ... now that you have me on a roll, there's Elizabeth's unique way of combining vulnerability with diplomatic experience.

So much to love and, AFAIC, I'll NEVER STOP.
::giggles::
Cue Galaxy Quest for the "Never surrender" line!

Oh ... hours later ... I remember what else I wanted to say about WHY we love the show. Even though there were the opening credit "stars", this was an exceptional ensemble cast which allowed our imaginations to roam freely, not straightjacketed to 1-2-3 stars (can you say original Trek?), and to see the galaxy through many different sets of eyes.
