Yay!  Time to start.

Synopsis of the Pilot:  When SG-1 discovers what it believes to be the remnants of the Lost City of the Ancients, the originators of the Stargates, Stargate Command launches an investigation. A new team of explorers, headed by civilian Dr. Elizabeth Weir, travels to the distant Pegasus Galaxy, where it discovers an advanced but deserted city on the ocean floor, a group of nomadic humans and a deadly enemy that feeds on humans as an energy source.

The Wraith are making people see things - is this the only time that ability is mentioned? I don't remember it in the future.

I thought this was a pretty cool effect and made the Wraiths even scarier than they already were.
I think they probably abandoned that idea because of the FX costs.


Teyla and John first meeting was awesome. He's behaving like an über-dork and she wonders where these strange men come from. And they had instant chemistry, which always help when people are going to be in a team together :).

I guess the cost factor would make a lot of sense. Also, I would think that a defense such as that would lose its effectiveness once people were prepared for it. As often as the Wraith were featured, it would look pretty week if the team were always taken in by that tactic.

Joe has made John a great character that way, hasn't he? Did you see where he's following Teyla through the woods (I believe it's on the way to the caves), and he slides down the steep slope? Somewhere (perhaps the commentary? or maybe at a con?) Joe mentioned that he really did almost fall there and the slide was totally an accident. But then he pulled himself back up, brushed off his hands, and sauntered along as if to indicate he'd intended to do that all along. (Nothing to see here, move along.) And the director kept it in. LOL.

Hee! I love learning trivia about the show like that. One of the biggest things I miss about watching these shows on Netflix is not getting any of the extras from the DVDs. Those are such fun, and make the show watching experience more rewarding and rich. They also give a person a bigger connection to the show an it's characters, to get some of that behind-the-scenes information. Or, it works that way for me, anyway.
