I have to say Rodney too. I mean don't get me wrong: I love John to pieces, I'd climb Ronon like a jungle gym any day, I have a deep, true fondness for Zelenka, Lorne is wonderful... but there's that McKay spark, the brains, the humor and the hands and the things he does even if he's scared shitless... and help me god, I love that he's arrogant, bad with people, petty and often a pain in the ass.

Yep. Rodney's my favorite.

Um... could I just cite you? Because really, that said it so well.

Except maybe, maybe for badass!John with a small side of angst, as in "the storm", I kind of am a little obsessed with that.

I'll admit it, I am a sucker for heroes, and to me, John Sheppard is the consummate hero. Handsome, charming, brave, loyal, intelligent, mischievous, mysterious, brooding (sort of), a pilot, thigh holster...oh, I had better stop now.

I love the other guys, McKay, Zelenka, Ronon, Lorne,Beckett, Chuck...but the colonel...ummmmmmmmmmmmm...my kind of squee!

This is actually hard for me, because there's a 3-way tie for my favorite male SGA character.

Carson, Rodney and Zelenka

If was fav Stargate character I'd have no problem, but these three also happen to be in a 3-way tie for second place on my fav Stargate character list.

Cannot pick just one!

Peter Grodin, unfussy competence in the middle of one disaster after another, right up until his self-sacrifice to help save the others.

Zelenka, the perfect exasperated complement to Rodney's impossible genius.

Ford, the boy next door, the best of the best, a nice guy doing his duty with excellence under the craziest possible circumstances.

Lorne, bringing humor and character to a thankless job.

Ronon, who has every reason to be bitter and furious, but instead often comes off as the most emotionally together person on the expedition, reserving his anger for his enemies, mostly seeming to regard his friends and allies with bemusement and acceptance.

Rodney, so obnoxiously charming or charmingly obnoxious, you have to love him even when he kind of deserves a smack; and that's even before adding in his moments of bravery and compassion.

And oh John Sheppard, the dark horse hero who acts like he runs on a Turing script designed to simulate human emotion.

10 REM JOHN SHEPPARD
20 FOR X=30 TO 190
30 IF X=DANGER THEN LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND
40 IF X=FLYING THEN WOOHOO
50 GOTO 210
60 IF X=FAMILY THEN GOTO 30
70 IF X=FRIENDSHIP THEN SARCASTIC TEASING
80 GOTO 210
90 IF X=DUTY THEN GOTO 30
100 IF X=CAPTURE THEN RESIST OR ESCAPE
110 IF X=RESIST THEN GOTO 210
120 IF X=ESCAPE THEN GOTO 30
130 IF X=ROMANCE THEN FEIGN INTEREST
140 GOTO 30
150 IF X=ANY OTHER EMOTION THEN RUB BACK OF NECK
170 GOTO 30
180 IF X=TALKING THEN GOTO 30
190 IF X=SUICIDE RUN THEN SO LONG RODNEY
200 FOR ALL OTHER VALUES OF X GOTO 30
210 PRINT "MEANINGLESS WISECRACK"
220 GOTO 20
230 END

This is the fakest of fake computer code. For comedic purposes only. Please do not attempt to use it to program your own John Sheppard.

I love your characterizations of guys :) You're making me fall for them all over again!

I also kind of want to draw hearts all over your John Sheppard computer code.

On screen, Rodney McKay, no doubt. In fiction, my favorite character is John Sheppard :) Well, preferably the two of them together ;)
