Though I have to say, you have the right idea about how to make yourself cheerful. *G*
Two (of many) things I really love in this story:
The dialogue. I mean, how can you not like characters' voices written like that:
"It's the waiting." Rodney flapped his hands. "When I have too much time to think, I get performance anxiety. Seriously, have you never wondered why I'm at my most brilliant when we have only seconds to live?"
(John:) "I thought you just liked the drama!"
Rodney glared. "I'm not insane!"
And the fact that the chieftain's description of the partoosh birds practically describes John and Rodney. ;-)
