This week's episode is the first half of the mid-season finale! The Storm is the episode that officially hooked me on SGA. Atlantis must be evacuated as a giant storm approaches and efforts to save the city make its corridors dangerous. As if that were not enough, the Genii seize an opportunity...
As always, comment below on what you enjoyed about the episode. Feel free to watch and comment on older episodes too :)

Date: 2017-12-29 03:49 pm (UTC)There's a shot of Kolya standing on the staircase in Atlantis. It's the moment he decides to take the city for his own. It would've been a very interesting storyline if somehow Kolya could sense the city, via a recessive gene or other means. Hmm.
John finds out that Rodney gave up information about their plans to save the city via radio. Which means he didn't know that Rodney had been tortured until much later. I needed to watch this episode to be reminded of that.
To me, this explains the obvious bandage over Rodney's jacket sleeve in the closing scene. A scene that irked many at the time.
He's totally rubbing it in John's face for thinking that Rodney would give up information to Koyla willy-nilly. For even a minute!
Oh yeah, he's getting his point across. And that, is a very McKay thing to do.
It was hard not to watch the eye directly after. Bad ass John is soo tempting.

There's really not enough fic about the fallout of Kolya torturing Rodney. There's only a few fics where John tracks Rodney down to tell him that giving in, giving Kolya the information, was okay. And to actually treat Rodney's wound. Though I really, really like the idea of Rodney bandaging his wound over the jacket as a visual reminder to John.
God, I love John being badass - so hot ♥

Date: 2018-01-04 11:07 am (UTC)- Rodney <3 <3 His eyelashes are, once again, on point. I love that Radek was called to this meeting, too. Rodney needed his right hand man.
- I love this glimpse of the Athosian settlement, though I have no idea what some of that stuff is.
- Smeadon even LOOKS like he's a dick. He's clearly evil; who tries to take advantage of a group of desperate people who need safe harbor? I can't remember if they continue to trade with them after their betrayal. I'd like to think no? But if Atlantis really needs the food they provide...
- "Despite what you might think, I am not superman." / "Was anyone really thinking that?" Sure, insult the person who is working to save everyone's asses. I mean, it's not like you're depending ENTIRELY on him and his science team to save Atlantis.
- I love the way Rodney and Radek explain their plan together, taking turns. SCIENCE BROS. Though Rodney gets his name wrong, so clearly they're still in the first stages of their epic friendship/working relationship.
- lol I love the way Kolya steps out of the shadows, this older guy facing off 3 young, buff men and Sora. He doesn't look intimidating at all.
- The John & Rodney banter <3 "Like dinosaurs turning into birds 'theoretically', or the theory of relativity theoretically?"
- Also, the entire bit about where the grounding stations are, and how John will have to run, not walk, to his. John's face is just...so much win. The best. There should be a scene like the one in Due South when Thatcher describes Fraser running - but it's Rodney describing John.
- Poor Bacon Guy & friend are dead :( I like that Sora doesn't support killing them and protests.
- God, John is pretty. I might gif that scene (and then gif a scene where Rodney looks especially pretty).
- God, Rodney is so fucking clever. My clever baby, leaning on the PA system <3
- David Hewlett is an amazing actor. He looks SO SCARED when Elizabeth is escorted away and Kolya steps closer, even before the knife is held up menacingly.
- Despite being tortured, Rodney is STILL sarcastic. "It's a radio. The arrow points to the talk button." Again, he is so brave.
- And the beginning of John's badassery! Rodney looks so scared for John. "Those control panels are pretty fragile, you might not want to -" Part of that IS concern for the control panel, of course. If it's damaged and no longer works... Atlantis is doomed. But I wonder if Rodney's plea was also to convince Kolya to tell his men NOT to shoot John.
- "...which I'm sure you're gonna get an earful from McKay for..." The look on Rodney's face is so interesting in that moment. When John says the quoted line, his entire face changes. I always feel like he's feeling boosted up by John's confidence in him that Rodney won't be too scared to tell off the bad guys. I might gif that scene too, lol.
