I was scrolling through my SGA stories and I was thinking about my favorite one. I've decided this is the one I love the most:

Golgotha , which is really a team fic about Lorne. It was inspired by the lovely Promises by [livejournal.com profile] bluflamingo.

Why is this my favorite? I think because I succeeded in writing a story that captured all the characters well. It's not a slash fic, which was a bit of a surprise, but it is about courage, faith, and the healing power of friendship.

Lorne has to overcome the physical and emotional effects of captivity and torture, plus his own self-doubts. There's a lot of hurt/comfort, team, and friendship. Most of all, I hope I did the lovely character of Evan Lorne justice.

So, fellow writers, what story is your favorite of the ones you've written?

Oh, I'm going to have to check that out--it sounds wonderful! I haven't read a lot of Lorne-based stories, but I've always liked him as a character, and I love me some hurt-comfort fic. :-)

Oh boy, I'm not sure I can pick a favorite of mine. I am very partial to Second Verse (http://archiveofourown.org/works/64759) because John and Rodney were *so* messed up in that universe and yet finding each other allowed them to heal. But I'm also quite fond of A Lesson in Evil (http://archiveofourown.org/works/177208) because it was such a departure for me (writing in first person POV, that is) and it was so fun seeing the team through Watson's eyes. :-)

Shoot, I meant to comment on this at your LJ rather than here--oops! :-)

My favorite SGA story I've written is Never a Forever Thing. It was written for the MSF auction for David Hewlett's birthday back in 2008. It's my favorite because it was the first time I took a character who sees himself as mostly, if not 100%, straight and showed him realizing that he's not as straight as he thought and that he craves the release that comes from being forced to submit.

Oh, that sounds interesting because I rarely read find anything that has Rodney being forced to submit--or being convinced he was mostly straight, either. Cool!

It's John who is forced to submit and convinced he's not totally straight.

Ah, I see! I just assumed from the fact it was for the b-day auction that you meant Rodney! But yes, I can totally see how John is the type of character who gets something out of being forced to submit. Definitely. :-)

Although I mostly write slash, the two or three stories which I happen to think are my best, aren't slash, oddly enough. Of course they are Radek centric, but Homing (http://archiveofourown.org/works/401262) -a Radek POV covering his experince during the events in "The Return, pts I & II- and Reason Enough (http://archiveofourown.org/works/397042/chapters/653121) -a speculation about how Rodney spent all those years in "Last Man", with a dash of Czech history thrown in- are the stories I'm proudest of.

Love Radek. I had read and enjoyed Homing. Thanks for pointing to "Reason Enough", I'll check that out.

Pick a favorite - oh well, that's kinda hard, cause I like almost all the fics I've written for some reason or another. There are those that I wish I never posted, those that wrote at the very beginning of my writing-era... but that's probably cause when I go back to them I see all those beginner's mistakes. I was such a total n00b! All part of the learning process, right... right? =P

Anyway, I guess there's perhaps one that I'm moderately proud of (and when I say moderate I mean this in the most positive sense of the word, considering I have a very low self-esteem to start with), and it's my entry to the rarewomen exchange ficathon-thing. My recipient was an author I look up to, so that did add some pressure, just a wee bit more.

Anyhow... the story turned out a little different than I envisioned it (but that's usually the case with me - my muse is fickle like that).
It's a Kate/Elizabeth story, which is one of [livejournal.com profile] havocthecat's favorite pairings. It's told from Kate's POV, features a whole bunch of other characters but mainly Laura, Teyla, Katie - Radek - Rodney - John - Ronon - Evan for a bit, the Athosians, some Athosian tradition invented by yours truly.

Kissed By Fire (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1565543)
Summary: Kate flies a jumper on a mission around the planet, with Laura as co-pilot, Radek peering over his computerscreen in the back and Elizabeth around for moral support. And in the evening Teyla expects them to be on time for the Remembrance Feast.
