I wonder how Sumner was chosen for the expedition... Just think how different it would have been if Sam Carter had been in charge (well - maybe not the best example, because I don't want Sam dead!)... or anyone who was able to understand the importance of civilians, diplomacy, and science to the expedition.

I loved Elizabeth. She was no one's pushover.

I think the show did well with the civilian/military interaction. It's a dynamic I always love in shows, and in the small amount of fic I've written, I've enjoyed that side of things.
