So, let's get things straight. There's an underground lab. In some catacombs. And there's a village a few kilometres away. And another village perhaps even further away. And a whole lot of walking between places or just nowhere in particular in this episode. In the darkness and fog. It really made me dizzy. And confused.
If this mist really does affect people, then – as far as I could see – why were the military contingent not affected? Must be all that military discipline, right? It seemed to be only Carson, Alison and Mirellus. The former two seemed to swim in and out of irrational behaviour. I don't know what to make of Mirellus. Was he understandably crazed by the loss of his wife? And yet he could still be lucid enough at times. Until he decided to talk so loudly and couldn't be shut up, leading to his death. Was that a deliberate act of suicide on his part? Who knows.
And this just had to be another creepy Michael-related episode. I am so sick of him. OTOH, it's interesting to see that he's adapted to the throwaway arrogance of the Ancients, where he goes ahead and creates something, only to abandon it ... no matter how dangerous the consequences.
I'm glad that Anne's character didn't get killed off, considering that there was one casualty. It would have been nice to see her in future episodes. [I know that several fic writers have included her character in the military side of Atlantis, so that makes me happy.]
Did anyone else think that Alicia seemed a little young to be a Captain (though she certainly proved her competence by shooting down a Dart in S&R)? It's interesting to see how the military protocol of uniform buns (rather than short hairstyles) seems to neutralize otherwise more easily-discerned age differences in the women. Well, at least that's how I see it.
