Weir: The Wraith will be here in two weeks. Let's hear some ideas.

McKay: I hereby nominate my good friend, Panic. Anyone care to second the motion?

Ford: Panic.

Beckett: Aye, panic.

Sheppard: Yeah, panic sounds good to me.

Weir: That's it? That's your plan? Teyla, help me out here.

Teyla: Panic is a time honored reaction to the Wraith here in the Pegasus galaxy. It is a very good idea.

Weir: Cats. I'm back to herding cats.

this is the script, bb.

(I can't stop laughing now.)

Well, can you blame them?

And, in all honesty, panic's a good first idea so long as others follow.

Two words: Space Vampires

Honestly, once you get over your initial disbelief, panic is the next thing on the emotional checklist

I think there's something wrong with you if panic's not your first idea in this case.

::hmms noncommitally::

You never know until you're put in that situation. I know there are some things in my life that I've handled a lot worse (or, occasionally, better) than I'd have imagined before.

Well, yes, but space vampires.

Yes, but there's a wide range of emotions to choose from - fear, panic, fear-and-panic, disbeilef, stunned disbelief, outright terror, et cetera et cetera

From: [identity profile] rhia-starsong.livejournal.com
Well, presumably they've moved through stunned disbelief by this point in the game, and hopefully the fear is muted by this point, too.

From: [identity profile] aadarshinah.livejournal.com
hopefully. but if they've moved past the disbelief and the fear, you'd have thought that the panic would be a bit muted too, but...

le sigh.

trying to apply RL to TV never works out well

Especially when the writers seem to only have a passing familiarity with said reality...

Date: 2012-10-22 07:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aadarshinah.livejournal.com
well, in their defense, the show is set in a different galaxy, on the Lost City of Atlantis, which is frequently under attack by space vampires and amish neo-nazis and what have you. RL doesn't exactly have much to do with any of that.

::hangs head::

still, despite all of that, all of us here are mildly obessed with the show, so what does that say about us?

Date: 2012-10-22 07:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rhia-starsong.livejournal.com
Yeah, I meant more the reality of people's emotions--all you have to do is look at season five to see that they're not too familiar with the way real people feel and react to things.

oh, don't even get me started with S5. It's like I was saying to mckaysmonkey a while back, the writers are hopelessly stunted. It's like the people on The Big Bang Theory wrote the series or something (http://mckaysmonkey.livejournal.com/15682.html) for all the understanding of emotions they have

Yeah, thinking someone like Keller and someone like McKay had anything in common, let alone romance (which wasn't at all romantic)--what were they smoking?

Date: 2012-10-22 08:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aadarshinah.livejournal.com
i think it was less "what were they smoking" and more "what psychotropic mold was growing in their coffee cups"

Yeah, I mean, all you have to do with cats is wave the food around. That might work with McKay and Ronon, but I doubt Sheppard and Teyla would fall for it.

I *adore* your demented dialogue. ♥

Especially Teyla's explanation of the "time-honored" Pegasus tradition. *g*
