New squeee-er would like company

I just recently fell in love with Stargate Atlantis.  I started watching in late March, and just finished watching the last episode tonight.  I enjoyed the concept, the story lines, and the chemistry between the characters.  Especially between McKay and Sheppard.  Their snark was epic, and their connection had me squeeee-ing almost every episode.

Anyway, the biggest reason I'm making this post, is that I'd like to start rewatching the episodes, this time with company. Watching in real time (I'm in USA's EST) and chatting as an ep plays or even within a few days of each other.  I just want someone(s) to squee with about lines, looks, scenes, etc.  It was so hard to watch on my own, I kept wanting to turn to someone and share in the awesomeness.


I couldn't name a favorite episode, because that would be any episode in which Rodney and John had several scenes together.  Least favorite is easier.  Not because of writing, but because of personal preferences.  One kind of episode I really dislike, as a genre, is 'waking up in an asylum' eps.  So,  S3E6 'The Real World' where Elizabeth Weir wakes up in an asylum being told that Atlantis and Pegasus is all in her mind is one.  It climbs to the top of my least favorite, because Rodney and John hardly have any screen time, and none until the end.  Another kind of ep I dislike are clip shows.  Therefore, S5E13 'Inquisition' is another one near the bottom for me.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in a rewatch, reply to this post, and we can work out details.

Hee! Rosenbaum is awesome. The show he used to be on, Smallville, is what got me into fandom a few years ago, and his character Lex still forms half of my OTP - although, for the first time in three years, that is in danger of being replaced by a new love. Sheppard and McKay are just that amazing together.

I'm glad you'd be up for a rewatch. I'll wait a few days, see how many responders there are, and then try and work out a good schedule.

I also would be up for a rewatch! We had a community set up where we tried to do one, but it sort of fell by the wayside. But I've been dying to rewatch this with people, especially with a live chat or something, because I came late to the party (after the show ended) and never got the chance to squee with anyone, really.

I actually went in the opposite direction of you! McShep was my thing for a long while there, but Smallville and Clark/Lex in particular took over my brain this year. Still love my McShep, but Clex just doesn't seem to want to let me go. <3

I'd love to do it, too, now that I have Netflix, but I work second/third shift (EST), so that makes it harder for me to connect with other people's watch times. However, I'm all up for episode discussions afterwards! :O)

Right now I'm not quite home much enough to do a re-watch (plus I'm not on the same continent, which tends to make thing even more difficult); but if you do manage to arrange something please leave another post in this com, and I'll do my best to join when/if I'm available. I did parts of the last re-watch -- it think it was set up thru this community. It was only a few episodes, but it was the first time I got to do a simultaneous watch and chat event. I've gotten a better (used) computer since then, so I might be able to watch without crashing. yay.
I'm on Pacific Time and I stay up late so I can accommodate a lot of schedules.

Some of the SG-1 fans set up a rewatch community and did every (I think) episode. The format was quite different than watch and chat. I think each week a moderator wrote an essay/re-cap of the episode and then others commented to that and to each other. It's a format that takes a lot of work from at least one person. Unfortunately I misplaced my link during my computer change over.

Cool! I know what you mean about Clex. It got it's hooks into me over three years ago, and while I've written other pairings for fun, Clark and Lex are the ones that crowd my brain with bunnies. I think I've done close to 100 stories with them so far, not counting drabbles.

Still, I do love McShep (love that name), and hope to write a few staring them as well. I have a couple of short ideas for mmom, if I can find the time to write them before the 31st. I still have to find some time to grab a couple of icons, too.

I came late to the party (after the show ended) and never got the chance to squee with anyone, really. This is me, exactly. I don't even have anyone at home who's interested in watching. Even if I could get my husband into it, he wouldn't be squeeing over Rodney's flailing that John's life is in danger, etc.

It looks like there is some interest, so I'll wait a few days to give as many people as possible a chance to see the post, and then we can all try to work out a schedule.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. As to involvement, any level would be great. I might see if I can use this comm for a rewatch. Most of my flist wouldn't be interested, as only 2 or 3 are into SGA, 99 post about this show would be a lot to ask, but I'll have to ask the mods before I figure that out.

Hah, I'm with you on the asylum episodes (though I have one--story--planned for myself) and the clip episodes (because we've already seen all this guys!) but my all time least fav ep was Whispers because I loathe teenage slasher/zombie movies! ;-)

I lurk in the Star Trek fandom, and they just completed a rewatch of everything about the original crew. Theri posts were huge - filled with polls, images, links to associated meta, etc. I don't have the time for something like that. Anything I do will be very minor, besides my contribution of the discussion or real-time chat.

There is an sgarewind comm that does that sort of thing regularly already... worth checking into what they do. I don't follow them so don't know how 'gen' they might be....

The 'within a couple of days' thing might be do-able for the folk who can't do it live.... as in "this week's ep is [pick something] and post your comments here".....

Awesome links! Thank you so much for them. The poll will be good, but I'll have to remind myself of what each episode is about. I watched them so quickly, the titles didn't really stick in my mind. As to the newsletter, I'll have to subscribe to that, to get all the newest stuff, but it's good to know they have a meta tag. I wouldn't have looked for one. Thank you again. Whispers wasn't my favorite, but it isn't near the bottom for me because I really like Beckett. I was so shocked when he died, and relived when they found a way to have him back.

Thank you for letting me know about that comm, if it was on the Pilot, it would be perfect (or, if I was patient enough to wait for them to start the next round). I love the idea of a chat room. I'll have to see how a person goes about setting one up. I still want to have a post that people may comment on, though.

If we wind up with all slashers, it might be cool to do a poll about how slashy people felt a particular ep was...

Goodness, yes. Everyone has been amazing. This comm doesn't even have a hundred members, and I've gotten this many responses, with such helpful suggestions, great links, and generous welcomes. It is a very friendly fandom.

Speaking of links, thanks for the one to the guide. It's a huge resource, and updated about the time I was getting involved with the show, too. *g*

Hi there. It's a wonderful fandom, so welcoming. I don't know when the rewatch will begin happening, or how fast it will go. I'll have to do a poll after this work week is over (I sympathize with hellacious work requirements). I got more of a response than I was expecting. I figured I'd be lucky to get one or two nibbles. Hopefully it'll be figured out soon, because I'm going through withdrawal. Good luck with all the papers.
