I think that makes a lot of sense! I was worried about getting stuck on John being just the flyboy, when I know he's so much more than that. I know there must be other options for him, but I couldn't get a handle on what they might be. (It just occurred to me that not so long ago I read this totally believable regency fic by sgamadison, where John owned and raced horses :) That would be an expression of that same desire for freedom, etc.)
