Ten years. Wowza. I've wanted to post these questions since the beginning of this fest.
Stargate Atlantis, ten years later. Where are they now? Where do you imagine them to be? And where are you?
When the show first aired I had no real concept of the fannish community. I knew it was there but had never really been a part of it. It unfolded in front of me. The creation of AO3 happened because of fandom pulling together. I met friends online that will be my friends for the rest of my life. Squee Weekend happened. I moved from lurking to writing stories and posting (never saw that one coming).
Atlantis changed my life in ways I'll still feel the effects from ten years from now. I can't begin to draw enough hearts over it and fandom.
Where do I think our team is 10 years later? Back in Pegasus where they belong of course.

Date: 2014-07-17 01:37 am (UTC)Definitely back in Pegasus. :-) By different means, depending on who's version makes the most sense to me at the moment, but by any means necessary. They steal the city or they get sent back, it doesn't matter to me. Atlantis has long since declared itself an independent colony, and Ronon has talked John into starting his dream of having Atlantis be a place where societies can send their best and brightest kids to learn all about science and technology (and maybe some hand-to-hand combat, too). The Athosians have a colony on the same planet as Atlantis, and are thriving again. The Wraith and the Replicators have battered each other into near submission but there are pockets here and there, and with the capabilities of both, it is possible they will rise again, same with Micheal's monsters. However for the first time since the Ancients left Pegasus, the human populations are flourishing and they can dream of more than just day-to-day survival.
And John and Rodney still bicker and banter, as they run the city and negotiate with the new societies, creating bases on multiple words, training specialists and discovering new tech. Rodney believes that he will have the first of their new spaceships ready to launch in time for John's birthday, too.
Um, not that I've given this much thought or anything. ;-)

THIS. So much. Almost everything good in my life can be traced back to my time in this fandom. Everything bad in my life is made bearable because of this fandom. I owe it, and the people I've met through it, so much. There will never be anything quite like SGA for me again. It's opened up my world in so many ways, I might as well have gone through the Gate with the expedition myself.

Date: 2014-07-17 02:06 am (UTC)I'm glad I came into the fandom early but I'm also utterly delighted when a new soul finds their way to Atlantis. It's a wonderful refreshing look through their eyes.

Date: 2014-07-18 01:45 pm (UTC)Someone once asked David Hewlett (who had been talking about how much he'd like to play Doctor Who--he'd make an *awesome* Doctor, wouldn't he?) what he'd do with a TARDIS and without hesitation, he said he'd go back to S1 and do it all over again. Me too, David, me too.
