SGA...10 Years Later, fest: Comedy and Drama

A duel topic. Atlantis gave us a number of dramatic moments. How could it not, what with fighting off the Wraith and a bevy of imminent death scenarios. (Rodney made me say that).

While I love a good edge-of-your-seat moment as much as anyone, I dearly need my comic relief. Without question SGA did it better when they kept it subtle.

Teyla's priceless reaction to - well, usually to something John, Rodney or Ronon cooked up. John, cuddled up to a Wraith worshiper proclaiming, the clowns just keep coming. Carson's wee turtles and almost too many moments in Inferno to mention.

A good many Friday nights this show gave me a reason to smile. How about you?

I have to say that the entire episode "Duet" always perks me up. David Hewlett's acting is priceless when he's "Cadman."

Then there are poignant moments, and the KISS, OMG. Priceless.

There's a scene in one episode where the team is on a hive ship, and something happens. Rodney is like, "What did you touch?" and Ronon goes, "Nothing!" Rodney says something back (I can't remember what, possibly "I know you touched something!") and Ronon goes, "Maybe a little." It always made me laugh XD Possibly because it's not a typical Rodney & Ronon interaction.

There's also that FANTASTIC scene in s5's "The Outsiders", where Rodney gets into the wraith dart and then Carson tries to fit in too, and they're completely squished and Rodney looks so grumpy about it.

When Rodney is forced to help deliver Teyla's child by himself is one of the moments in the show, that made me laugh and cry in the same time. Drama AND comedy together, yes. And I'm in love with the moment later, when Sheppard holds the newborn baby, smiling at him.

Radek's backtalk in Czech. McKay's tele-essay on "Leadership!" in Letter From Pegasus. John's facial expressions when Rodney says something boneheaded. John's facial expressions ever. Ronon's Satedan Rules for Sparring which are just an excuse to kick John's ass and make him look bad -- the little smile on Ronon's face the entire time. Teyla's very bad lying, also in Sunday, to get herself out of playing golf. Ronon trying to say he has mission reports to do, too, and John telling him nice try.

Rodney's monologue while hopped up on the Wraith enzyme, and when they cut to his tiny, mouse-like figure hunched over the DHD. I think I peed my shorts.

John trying to put the plastic explosive up on the Wraith hyperdrive in S&R and pulling his stitches with a wince, and Ronon taking it away from him saying, "You don't have to do everything," and slapping it on so easily.

The glow of wonder on Radek's face in Letters from Pegasus when he's describing the way the city rose from the ocean.

I might have to hunt him down and pinch his cheeks.

Comedy:

* Duet -- comedy all the way

* "I shot him." - "In the leg." -- Elizabeth's shocked reaction's brilliant

* every single one of Teyla's eye rolls, cause you just know she's keeping herself from smacking them over the head with her banto's

* Rodney delivering Teyla's kid was priceless

* Rodney talking about his gluteus maximus, and Evan trying to get information out of him at the same time about the rest of the team's whereabouts

* Zelenka's epic return from the kid's planet

* Zelenka crawling through Atlantis' airducts like a hamster, all the while muttering in Czech

* Miko's and Radek's message in Letters From Pegasus

Drama:

* that whole epic take-off in First Strike -- you know it's going to fail with epic proportions and yet it's kinda like how you want Titanic to make that bloody turn away from the iceberg even when you know it's not going to be different this time around - she'll always hit

* death of my favorite character in Doppelganger

* Elizabeth telling John and Ronon to go and leave her behind with the human form replicators

* Sunday -- but seriously exploding tumors?!?
