There will never ever be enough Chair stories to satisfy all my needs.

*drags mind back from 'satisfaction'*

I love the Control Chair with an unholy glee. What did Sheppard feel when he sat in it? How does it all work? What about its unexplored potential?

Before I forget, here's a Link to the Control Chair Wiki

Undeniably, the Atlantis Control Chair was the start of it all.

Bring your personal canon, your theories, your favorite stories. Personally, I think John can control a whole lot more from the chair than he realizes/lets on. Yes, my toes do curl in anticipation. *g*

Let's have some Chair love!

The control chair is fascinating :D I wish the show had explored its use more.

Fics in which the chair features prominently:

+ Indelible
+ The Chair (apparently the site is down at the moment)
+ Far Ahead The Road Has Gone
+ Nevermind

I love the control chair. I don't think the show used it nearly enough. I just think that the chair and Atlantis is so much more than we ever saw.

I wish TPTB had decided to actually explore the control chair--what it could & couldn't do, power required for various tasks, if people with different skill sets or personalities could use it more efficiently/naturally for things they're 'suited for', how using the chair affects people, & so on--rather than reserving it for a deus ex machina. I also believe that Rodney McKay would have insisted on experiments & comparative trials with the control chair as soon as they had a shred of 'spare' power, especially in an attempt to unravel the Ancient database & identify hazards & resources on Atlantis.

I'm completely in agreement that that's the first thing Rodney wanted to do; however, I think their power situation was so dismal at that point (the only surviving ZPM virtually drained) that he prob'ly restrained himself. I bet he had a moment of raging frustration, tho', & soon started an extremely detailed spreadsheet of what to 'ask' Atlantis via the chair & who should best ask which questions (along with the preparatory study each other operator should undertake ;-).
